Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very early how to get out of her difficulties with her incredibly vivid imagination. Even before learning to write or read, she composed her own songs. Within 8 years she got her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. Even though she became an established local celebrity while at High School, she knew her ambitions were much bigger. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums on Monument Records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his syndicated television show. Parton was hired in 1966. She then she joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton composed I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner after their breakup. It made it to No. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
