Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin began her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, and was the 2nd youngest recipient of the award in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 on the 24th of July 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As an infant, she won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the talkative and inquisitive character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. The role as Flora McGrath - the daughter to a Scottish mute pianist in New Zealand at mid-19th Century - was won by her when she attended an audition for the role. At nine her age, she was a novice or had none experience with acting. When she was in her teens, the actress moved to America. Paquin started her acting career as a child with a role of the Jane Eyre main character in the Franco Zeffirelli novel Jane Eyre as well as an important role in Fly Away Home. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a less prominent role. She played teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character of Polexia Aphrodisa.
