Jessica Michelle Chastain was born on March 24, 1977. She is an American producer, actress and model. She is most well-known for her role in films with female-centric themes. She has been the recipient of numerous awards such as an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential persons across the globe in 2012. Chastain developed an interest in acting as a child and made her professional stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. After studying acting at the Juilliard School, she was awarded a talent-holding agreement with television producer John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on numerous television shows as well as a number of roles in stage productions. After her debut in film at the age of 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain made her mark in the year 2011 with six films which included the dramatics Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She was awarded Academy Award nominations for playing an aspirational socialite in the period drama The Help (2011) and as a CIA analyst in the action thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were more commercially successful. Chastain was recognized for her portrayal of strong-willed women, such as in the dramas Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017). She also appeared in the TV miniseries Scenes from a Marriage (1921). After playing Tammy Faye Bakker, she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21) and Tammy Wynette in The Eyes of Tammy Faye (21). Chastain is the founder and investor in Freckle Films, a production company that promotes diversity and inclusion in film. She is vocal about mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her husband.
